Month of the MassQ (MOTM for short) was an experimental self dare I imposed upon myself in May of 2011. The dare was simple: MassQ every day for an entire month and create some sort of record of the process. The end result was this website and the contents herein.
MOTM served as both a digital diary, and online gallery space, a way to document and share the images, experiences and thoughts I was having throughout this self imposed challenge with my online community. The dichotomy between public and private space, between a personal journey and a public performance, mirrored perfectly the dichotomy between the inner and outer self that MassQing looks to address.
To say that this project was impactful wouldn't even scratch the surface. What began as little more than a dare, turned into a turning point, not only for my artistic style and practice, but my lifestyle and practice as well. It’s a special moment when art and life quit imitating each other and become one and the same. MassQing allows for such a moment. Month of the MassQ was such a moment, and I consider it an honor and privilege to share this project with you, in such a moment as this.
